Justified

FX has always been forward-thinking with its programming as well as proven to be quite demographic-savvy. They have only put out a handful of original programming in the dramatic arena, yet most of those shows are exceptional. Combining violence, sex, and language into fascinating storytelling makes the experience that much more compelling.
Their greatest achievement so far has probably been The Shield and rightfully so. That show sucked me in to the point that I felt physically drained after each week’s episode. The sheer brutality is a shock at first, but then morphs into such an ingrained fiber of the program that it becomes the norm. (I will never forget the series finale. It still haunts me.) Nip/Tuck is another show that has had its following grow while becoming even more devoted to it. The new bikers on the block, Sons of Anarchy, have been superb as well. (Must mention some of their awesome comedies too: It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The League, Archer. Testees, not as much)
Now, the newest member to the team is taking the spotlight and it’s making FX’s coveted Tuesday 10:00pm slot proud. The premiere episode of Justified had just the right amount of grit, action, dialogue, and intrigue that I am looking forward to the season in addition to having something fun to watch after LOST. Written by the man who gave us Speed (and a hysterical lunatic played by Dennis Hopper, “Pop quiz, hot shot!” Classic!), you just know we’re in for a wild ride. (Bad pun, I know. Bite me!)
Our lawman, U.S. Deputy Marshall Raylen Givins (played wonderfully by Timothy Olyphant) is coming back home to Kentucky, and none to pleased about it. Rest assured though, he means business. Just don’t make him draw, or you’re already gone. Like he said, “You make me pull, I put you down.” So spread the word y’all, there’s a new sheriff in town.
