Book Recommendations
I have been reading a lot more lately, and as a result, have been looking into more and more interesting things to quench my thirst. Here are some of my recent reads and quick thoughts on them. Feel free to comment back with any titles you would like to spread the word about.
Comedy:
- I Only Roast the Ones I Love: Busting Balls Without Burning Bridges by Jeffrey Ross - I got my copy signed 2 weeks ago at a gig he did. Well worth it. This book gives you tons of tips on the art of ‘roasting’ as well as pages upon pages of hilarious quotes from oodles of comedians. I even got inspired to roast one of my boys at his upcoming bachelor party. I owe it all to the Roastmaster General!
Sports:
- The Book Of Basketball: The NBA According to the Sports Guy by Bill Simmons - (Release date 10/27) Based on his freshman attempt, this will be a total must have for any sports enthusiast, especially an NBA fan.
Pop Culture:
- Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto by Chuck Klosterman - A profound, nostalgic, interesting and somewhat immature collection of cultural essays. He strings you along for a journey that seems so random as it touches on “Saved By The Bell”, the Celtics vs. Lakers rivalry of the 80’s, his obsession of serial killers, and modern music. But in the end, it is an enjoyable ride that wets the pallet for more of his sarcastic wit and banter.
